Ever since I moved to my first ever home in Canada, these squirrels around here have been a big part of my world. It just started with one day throwing a nut to protect one squirrel from fighting with another squirrel. She saw the nut and stopped fighting and ran to grab it. Since then she started coming every day and started asking for more and more nuts. For a few months it was just one squirrel who used to visit every day for nuts and we named her “ Gillu “. Gillu is a short form of “ Gilahari “ which is a Hindi language word for squirrel.
It’s almost going to be a year that we started this trend and now we don’t have just one Gillu coming to our home asking for nuts, but many more and we are more then happy to feed them all.
These two Gillu artworks are a tribute to those squirrels that we have around us and I just love them so very much.
